Armed Robber Jailed For Store Terror
An armed robber who stole $700 before fleeing from a West Street liquor store has today be jailed for 18 months.
Matthew James Kennedy, 20, took less than a minute to terrorize the cashier who wishes to remain anonymous.
Kennedy pointed his gun at the head of a customer and told the cashier to hand over all the cash “or he dies.” The cashier did as she was instructed before Kennedy pushed the customer onto the floor and fled on foot.
He was arrested later that evening in his home. The gun used in the robbery was recovered at the time of his arrest. The $700 cash has not been found.
Kennedy was sentenced to 18 months in jail with a non-parole period of 12 months. No appeal of the sentence is expected.
